How do I start using MandaTone?

- Take the free 5-minute diagnostic test, or skip to explore courses
- Start your first lesson — the first practice in every course is free
Do I need to create an account?
No. MandaTone creates an anonymous account automatically so you can start learning immediately. You can optionally sign in with Google or Apple to sync your progress across devices.
Common Questions
Why does MandaTone need microphone access?
MandaTone uses your microphone to record your pronunciation during speaking exercises. Your voice is analyzed in real time to generate a pitch curve and accuracy score. Audio recordings are not stored — they are discarded immediately after scoring.
My pitch curve looks flat or doesn't appear
- Make sure you are in a quiet environment
- Hold your device 15-20 cm from your mouth
- Speak at a normal volume — not too quiet, not too loud
- If you recorded silence (no speech detected), the pitch curve will not display
My score seems too low / too high
MandaTone uses Azure Cognitive Services for pronunciation assessment. Scores reflect how closely your pitch contour matches a native speaker reference. Tips for better scores:
- Focus on the tone shape (rising, falling, dipping), not just the pitch height
