MandaTone ("we", "our", or "the app") is a Mandarin pronunciation learning application. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
1. Data We Collect
1.1 Account Data
- Anonymous accounts: When you first open MandaTone, we create an anonymous account so you can start learning immediately. No personal information is required.
- OAuth sign-in (optional): If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and display name from the provider. We do not receive or store your password.
1.2 Audio Recordings
- When you use speaking exercises, MandaTone records your voice through your device microphone.
- Audio recordings are sent to our server for pronunciation assessment and are not stored after processing. They are discarded immediately after generating your score.
- We do not use your voice recordings for any purpose other than providing real-time pronunciation feedback.
1.3 Learning Progress
- Practice scores, course progress, test results, and diagnostic reports are stored on our servers to provide a continuous learning experience across sessions.
- This data is associated with your anonymous or authenticated account ID.
1.4 Device Information
- We collect a device identifier to support analytics and crash reporting.
- We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or any data unrelated to the app's functionality.
1.5 Analytics & Crash Reporting
- We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app usage patterns and fix technical issues.
- This data is anonymized and aggregated. It includes app events (e.g., "started a test", "completed a course") and crash logs.
